Wood science is the study of wood as a material that is renewable and of biological origin. In other words, the term wood science can also be known as wood technology. In this process microscopic particles of solid copper metal are mixed in a liquid carrier and injected to the wood at high pressure. The difference between this method and the other copper-based methods is that the copper is used as a metal rather than a dissolved material. The characteristics of the wood are highly improved and the when this process is used to treat wood. The time the wood products treated using this method last is longer other types of treatment.
Termites and fungal decay are just a few among the many problems wood treated from this method are protected against. It has also shown to be an improvement in corrosion resistant properties to metal fasteners. Extensive research over a period of 10 years has proven the effectiveness of this science as one of the best wood preservation methods.
